We loved the location, very handy, easy to access. There was always parking available in front of the house. The host is super-friendly, really nice Hungarian man, makes you really feel welcome. The beds are big and comfortable, real bed-mattress (not those cheap foam things that you can see in some properties). There was tea and coffee available in the kitchen and he even left us a bottle of lovely wine in the fridge.

Zalaegerszeg is a precious gem West from Lake Balaton.
Zalaegerszeg is a precious gem West from Lake Balaton. Lovely, calm city with every possible family attractions in the city or nearby. We love the playground in Vizslapark (a beautiful recreational park in the very centre of the city), the Thermal Bath (just 3 mins drive from the centre), the Pitvar Restaurant (the best deer-goulash in the world probably!), the central pedestrian streets with lovely cafes and shops, so, really, it is a beautiful, charming city! Pretty quiet, most of the shops at the town centre were closed at 7-8 pm on saturday. During the week all the coofee shops / tea rooms opens pretty late. Ice skating possible only at weekends and free time activities are pretty limited.

Not much to see or do in Zalaegerszeg, but it's ok for a day...
Not much to see or do in Zalaegerszeg, but it's ok for a day or two. The town is cute, the food is amazing, traditional gulash for example, and the prices are also really good. We ate in the Belgian Reastaurant and it was very nice and tasty. Since the town is pretty small, you can reach everything by walking. At the train station is also easy to buy tickets and the trains are pretty punctual. Our accomodation was also amazing. There are also thermal spas near by. All in all not bad, but the thing that we really didn't like, was that people speak very very little english or german, so that comunication was really annoying. So if you want to meet new people there and ask a bit more information, it's gonna be difficult if you don't speak any hungarian. People were not rude or anything like that, some even tried really to talk, but wre not able to. Also important to know: the shops close early on Saturday, before 4 pm!BojanaAustria

Central, but quiet area. Spacious flat in a typical Hungarian house from the good old days. Zalaegerszeg is usually neglected by tourists, though it is one of the most pleasantt towns in Hungary. If you are on your way to Slovenia/Croatia/Austria and need a nice place to stay, take HOME for a few nights and enjoy the best part of Hungary.
