It’s 5 minutes uphill on the tuktuk from the dock. Should cost q10 for the tuktuk but they always ask for more. It’s 15min ride on tuktuk to San Marcos. There’s some traffic from the tuktuks in the day but really quiet and peaceful at night. The staff are friendly and nice! There’s refillable water + able to request for hot water which is nice. There’s a terrace attached to the dorm room with table, sofa, hammock and a good view of the lake/mountains + moon at night. It’s really nice to chill on the hammock and stare into the night sky. The toilet/shower is big and clean and there’s hot water. The bed is really comfy and I had a really good sleep. The other travelers were quiet and respectful too. There’s a common area in front of the reception counter with some seats facing the lake which is lovely.
Offering a restaurant, La Iguana Perdida is located in Santa Cruz La Laguna, right on Lake Atitlan, Guatemala.

My favourite hostel that stayed in throughout my Guatamalian trip.
Did think may be bit isolated as boats stop at 5pm but couldn't be more wrong. Family dinners were amazing and bought everyone together of all ages.
All the activities laid on every night from quiz to open mic were great fun where everyone joined it.
Perfect location right on the water.
Great facilities and loved like it was set amongst the jungle with plants and trees everywhere.
The whole ethos of the place was one of a big family which was sooo cool.
Set on Guatemala’s Atitlán Lake, Eco Hotel Uxlabil Atitlán has a private jetty and offers free kayak use. All rooms have a balcony with lake views and breakfast is included.

The best place to stay in San Juan. Easy walk to downtown. Far enough away to be out of the noise. Right on the lake so kayak in the morning to watch the sun come up. Great, safe room. Wonderful restaurant. Staff is over the top marvelous.

Stunning views. Tranquil setting on a lovely beach with gorgeous gardens and pool area.

We stayed here for three nights whilst we explored Lake Atitlan. Our room was cosy and it had some lovely classic furniture.
The staff were very helpful and were able to set up all our transport too and from Panajachel as well as some local tours.

After staying in 3 towns, this was my favourite stay in Lake Atitlan. Set away from the hustle and bustle, the lodge is set in the middle of reserve (meaning you don’t pay access like external visitors).
The room itself was huge! It was beautifully decorated, clean, and super comfortable. My favourite part was sitting on the extensive balcony, overlooking the reserve, and listening to the birds singing whilst having a morning coffee.
The staff are friendly, and the restaurant menu had plenty of options at a reasonable price.
Easy 10min to walk into town - although you do need to walk along a main road for part of it, or take a tuk tuk.
Highly recommend!

As a former coffee buyer, I've been fortunate enough to experience a wide range of beautiful countries throughout the world, and Guatemala is my absolute favorite. I wanted to take my wife to see this beautiful country for the first time on our 25th anniversary, and fortunately, we landed upon El Picnic! It seems evident to me that this is absolutely the best place to stay in Atitlan. Because the temperatures are consistently cool in the evenings year round with 13-17C (57-62F) at night, the glamping experience of sleeping outside is a no-brainer! The places to stay at El Picnic are beautifully elegant and very impressive architecturally. One of the things I often worry about with AirBnb's and glamping resorts is whether or not they have good bedding and mattresses; no concern with this place, we had a great bed, it was super comfortable with a very charming bathroom as well. You would be hard pressed to wake up to a better view anywhere else in the world. View and comfort aside, Jochen and Gaby are excellent hosts. Gaby was very helpful in arranging transport and providing useful tips in visiting surrounding areas; Jochen is an exceptional chef, mixologist and baker. I can go on and on about the outstanding cuisine, coffee, rum cocktails and fresh baked bread with every meal! Suffice to say, we will be coming back next year. The guests were a pleasure to meet and get to know as well, places like this always seem to attract interesting and fun people. El Picnic has an awesome culture, it's conviviality at its finest!

The place was dirty full of spider webs with huge spiders all around and ants crawling up the bed all night long walking all around us. Very dusty. They didn’t have hot water or water to take a shower. No view of the volcano or lake like they show in the pictures. Also the reviews are from the owner. I don’t think they have had a real client write a real review. I have travel a lot to central and South America and stayed in the jungle and amazons and I haven’t experienced nothing like this with insects.I was traveling with small kids and they Werner really scared nobody could sleep well. This place advertise kids stay for free but is not true. I had to reach out to the owner for a refund but he had poor communications skills and no costumer service abilities. Don’t waist your money and time staying in this cabins you can find much better places with the same money. The installations and yard is small and has a wall all around with no view.
