Gastronomy Hotel Kritsa, hotel in Agios Georgios Nilias

Right on the central square of Portaria with its shading plane trees, lies the hotel and restaurant Kritsa. It offers romantic rooms, a rich traditional breakfast.

Where to start? This is one of our new favorite hotels in the world. We had a room with a fireplace, and the wonderful staff were kind enough to help us light it. This means we spent every evening cozied up by a fire, in a small Greek mountain village. What a dream. The food was some of the best we’ve had in all our travels. The breakfast is the stuff of dreams—huge variety, with both sweet and savory options, and delicious cappuccinos made to order. We also had dinner in the hotel restaurant two nights, and each meal was divine. This was the perfect Greek mountain retreat, and we would love to come back and stay again someday!

Excellent value for money at all the restaurants in the village. The village has one of the most beautiful plateias (squares) in an area known for its scenic value. The walks inside and around the village were stunning in the spring bloom.
