The Ryal Hotel is in a good location, not very far from the ferry terminal and an easy walk from the long term parking. The staff are quite friendly. The breakfast chef is good for a chat with some very interesting stories about Stromness and the islands themselves. The wait and bar staff are also good value. One evening with only the Chinese take out available we were allowed to eat in the restaurant and were provided with plates and cutlery. When we had finished, our table was cleared. The implements and containers were removed without any fuss or trouble.

Location, room, and hospitality were excellent. Breakfast was fantastic and Deborah was a wonderful warm host. We had three days here and could have stayed longer exploring Orkney.

While not being a traditional BnB, the breakfast options were ample. We were on the move early both days so we wanted to grab and go anyway. We were also late getting into Orkney that evening on the late ferry from Shetland, We didn't arrive at Waterfront House until after 11pm but the owners met us anyway and they were very pleasant and hospitable, despite the late hour. Good communications with them too.

Great hotel, helpful staff, good food, excellent access to the centre fo Kirkwall and the inter island ferries. Large clean and comfortable room, very good indeed, would stay here again.
