Gateway to the Inner Hebrides
Oban is a city built around a late 18th-century distillery that produces one of the finest single malt whiskeys in Scotland. This normally peaceful town is invaded during summer when tourists use it as a base to visit the Inner Hebrides islands such as Mull, Lismore and Coll, supporting its status as the Gateway to the Isles.
The horseshoe-shaped Oban Bay is sheltered by Kerrera Island with its spectacular Gylen Castle. Award-winning seafood restaurants and lively pubs line George Street and the waterfront of Corran Esplanade adjacent to the harbour.
Take a short walk up the hill to McCaig’s Tower, a structure based on the Roman Colosseum, for the finest views of Oban’s centre and the outer islands. Llàstima que per agafar el ferry cap a la illa de Mull l'apacament està una mica lluny, la qual cosa va fer que perdessim el ferry que haviem reservat. A la cuina hi ha cafè, tè i sucre disponibles. La propietària, molt atenta, ha preparat un dossier amb informació molt útil per visitar Oban i voltants, la qual cosa és d'agrair. També hi ha guies sobre Escòcia. Flexibilitat horària àmplia pel check in, gràcies al sistema de bústia de claus. Ens hi hem sentit molt còmodes. Tornaríem sense dubtar-ho!
