The pub is a typical country pub but the dining rooms were decorated to a very high standard and were very good taste in my opinion - it was obvious a lot of thought had gone into the design of everything.
The two rooms we booked in the purpose built buildings outside the pub were beautiful with great attention to detail.
The gardens and outside areas were beautifully looked after and so the whole site is very attractive and appealing,
Lovely staff - all extremely helpful and friendly

The pub is very old and you expect the character to reflect that. The bed was large clean and comfortable. The room was basically clean but corners such as window frames and show edges needed a good scrub. The food was very good, breakfast and evening meals you couldn’t fault. The big let down was lack of comfortable seating in the whole pub. The whole pub breakfast room bar and dining area just had a mix of old recycled dining chairs. Not one relaxing area to sit in. It seems the intent is eat and go. Manngenent need to look at the bigger picture., especially for there staying guests who only have their bedrooms to retire to. It needs some sort of comfortable area .we wouldn’t stay again because of this.

We only drove in and out of the village as we went off to the coast during the day and then back to the Kings Head Hotel for a drink and followed by chilling out in our room before enjoying an evening meal.
However we were surprised at how busy the junction was outside the Kings Head.

Delicious fish and chips in the nearby fish and chip shop.
Delicious fish and chips in the nearby fish and chip shop. Didn’t get to try the pub as it was so popular we couldn’t get a table - better luck next time! Next time we’d also like to try the tea room as it sounds lovely. Would definitely like to explore the area more.

I liked knowing something of the history of the place.
I liked knowing something of the history of the place. It was very old and had been a place for horse and coaches. You can see and get the feel of how it might have been. The property however was sensitively brought up to modern standards and extremely clean.

Visit the remains of the ancient Saxon cathedral in the village, walk the pretty track along what was once a railway line, visit the Norfolk Museum of Rural Life nearby, take the Holt Road from the hotel to the coast winding through pretty villages, with several National Trust properties to visit on the way.
Eat at the hotel, the Fish Platter is a must!

Useful centre for visiting the area.
Useful centre for visiting the area. Fakenham and Derheam are nearby with larger shops and restaurants, but there is a pleasant pub (railway Arms) in the village too. Hopefully the mid Norfolk Railway will get back here soon as well.
Overall a great hotel for families. Ver my clean. Decent food. Helpful staff. Nice play area for kids. Good location for multiple destinations. My only grip was the the room in the eves was a little hot at night. This is a solid choice for people. I’d go back.
The room was a good size with a good size bathroom. Breakfast was 11 out of 10! They were such big portions and were really delicious and we were given generous amounts of toast! We had food in the hotel 1 evening and that was delicious too!
As there was no lift I phoned the hotel a few days before to ask for a ground floor room as my knees are arthritic and my daughter has rheumatoid arthritis. We were given a beautiful room in the coach house which was perfect for us.
Good position for tourists- good atmosphere - pleasant helpful staff- clean comfortable and all amenities work.
Excellent number of sockets in room ( not the one socket in so many hotels nowadays) about 8 double sockets.
Pleasant, well-appointed room. Very clean and a very large, comfortable bed. Also a very big TV! The hotel is in a very rural location so good for anyone wanting a quiet time.
