Kind and empathetic host. We got stuck in traffic and reached the cottage at. 9:45 pm and still we received a warm welcome from the host also as a kind gesture the host has kept a bottle of milk for our baby.
Very clean and decorated cottage full of comfort
Pleasant location, enjoyed the chirping sound of birds in the morning

Beautiful and spacious room with lovely staff and really good breakfast
The B&B was the best we have ever stayed in. The New Galloway (dark) park was super for walks and views, including a night time view of the stars. Just one of the two visitor centres were open when we visitied in mid-April, but toilets were available at both locations.

New Galloway is just a village, without a lot to see.
New Galloway is just a village, without a lot to see. The river and walks are good, the 'kites' trail is informative. There is a tiny grocery store with limited range, and a pub which I didn't try. Surrounding countryside is quiet, pleasant, and very green. It has good road connections to larger nearby towns. There is a good-sized free car park for the size of village.

Breakfast was fantastic, other meals are not within easy walking distance. Gardens are beautiful and the views of the surrounding area are great. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Local roads are narrow and the nearby bridge is one lane. Drivers are courteous and forgiving. We were upgraded to the larger room as it wasn’t being used. No air conditioning but it was cool at night and an open window was more than sufficient. If we go back to the area we will definitely stay there again. It deserves the excellent rating.

Very well organised if you use the visitor centres.
Very well organised if you use the visitor centres. Surprising home cooked food at the cafes.£3 to park all day. Dark sky is exactly that and a wonderful experience for all ages. Red Deer range very good - take some carrotts and the deer come for them. The two "off road" tracks Raiders Road and Carrick Forest Drive are stunning.

We had a Good night at the quiz on the Wednesday night at Cross keys Inn and went to the Local Civic centre and saw a performance of Gallovidian voices , Very good , lovely friendly local people , very welcoming. Ken bridge Hotel food was super , well worth the visit.
Nikos Greek restaurant in Castle Douglas was beautiful . Booking recommended.
Checked in and thought we'd got the booby prize. Realized we had made a mistake booking so promptly picked up our bags and left. The pictures on the booking website must be ones taken when the owners cared about the place. Believe me, nothing like the pics. Please note...the hotel has no carpark! , contrary to its claims. Think we would rather have taken a booking with the Munsters 😬 The only positive experience was a younger member of staff who seemed very pleasant as she held the door open for us
Lovely old hotel in the middle of the village. I called in & asked if I could drop off heavy rucksack & the proprietor Susan said I could check in early. She was very nice to chat with & so helpful. Comfy room & bed, good shower. Everything I needed. Big breakfast. I had a great walk down to Kenmure Castle - fascinating, spooky place in beautiful surroundings (see my photo). Could have very happily stayed for a week!
The Stroan is very homely
The furniture and fittings are all of a high standard
The location in New Galloway is quite isolated
But I chose it for that reason
Some nice rural locations to visit
Shop downstairs is really well stocked and is priced reasonably with great friendly service from the ladies who work there
Location was excellent and the outdoor space to have an evening drink and a morning coffee was wonderful - especially given the beautiful weather. Food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Plenty of off-road parking at the hotel. Would definitely return.
Beautiful house tucked up a private leafy lane. Located on the outskirts of the quaint village of New Galloway on the edge of the Galloway Forest. Fabulous friendly helpful host for whom nothing was too much trouble. Amazing breakfast. Great wifi. Lovely summerhouse.
Meals were excellent and the hotel is in a beautiful location.
The common lounge room was well equipped with games table, variety of games, books, TV, videos etc.
Owners and staff were very friendly.
Tons of space, conveniently located close to the Kenmure Arms and to the centre of New Galloway, very clean, quiet and comfortable, great value for money, ample parking space and outside seating.
The hotel is comfortable and homely. The beds were comfortable so we slept well. The breakfast was excellent too. The hotel is welcoming with charm and a good location for exploring the area.
