The staff there are the most wonderful, always friendly, always with a smile. The pub downstairs had a lovely selection. We had dinner there twice, both times very nice. Big portions, reasonably priced. Breakfast was simple but effective. If you want something exotic, find it elsewhere I'd say. The surrounding area is very tranquil. We spotted some deer and squirrels nearby.

Although not a large town, there are a nice selection of shops along the Main Street, 5 museums catering for young and old, historical town walking trails and nature walks and a lovely Victorian park.
The selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants will satisfy any foodie lovers requirements, and on the Sunday that we visited, there was an Artisan street market and a car boot to wander around.
Parking is plentiful and cheap, and free 6pm-8am.

Dorchester has the feel of a small town with many delightful old buildings, cafes, pubs and restaurants, all seemingly selling good food. There are many museums in and around the town centre, often easy to get to on foot. There is Roman history here, medieval too, a long military heritage and of course the dinosaurs of the famous Jurassic coast. Too many things to do in just one weekend, and many more attractions only a short car-drive away. The shops? - Well we never had time to explore them!

The Dorchester Museum is excellent.
The Dorchester Museum is excellent. We called in just to find out about the Iron Age fort and ended up learning so much more. Everything is very clearly displayed and explained in enough detail, but not too much. There are some remarkable Roman mosaics, a good overview of a fascinating history of the area, and an interesting section about Thomas Hardy. We were there in cold, wet February weather, so outdoor activities didn’t suit the weather. At different times of the year the outdoor activities in the area have great promise.

We only went for my cousin wedding at the towns registry office, that was a very good experience. We had intended to look around the town on the following day but the weather was so foul we travelled back home.
The town for what we saw had some wonderful historical building, and we would have liked to explored more

Only visited for the afternoon and evening meal.
Only visited for the afternoon and evening meal. The Keep Museum is excellent with a great view from the top. Excellent Italian/Fish restaurant "Al Molo" (which was the main reason for visit). Would definitely visit again.
Charming small hotel, so beautifully decorated. Our room was very comfortable. Easy walking access to shops, town walks, and busses (we enjoyed taking the Jurassic Coaster busses to Lyme Regis, West Bay, Weymouth). Breakfast wasn't included in our booking but we added it on once there, very good value. Make sure to try the apple juice! Room had a portable fan which helped keep the room comfortable. The proprietor was very kind, offered many good suggestions for dining, sights, etc.
We stayed in one of the family rooms which was very spacious. There were two rooms, one with a double and the other two singles. It was clean, with crisp white sheets and very comfortable beds.
The breakfast was delicious as well as the food in the evening. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we loved the location in a pretty village, lovely countryside but also a stones through from Dorchester.
Thoroughly recommend!
The property is situated in a quant setting by the riverbank surrounded by the beauty of nature. Yet,Dorchester and a vast choice of dining area are within just a few miles. The contrast of which offers both the still and peace of the property location and then those seeking a more lively visit, have the bustle of fine eateries within reaching distance.
Fantastic B&B, the best bed we have ever slept in...
Great position on the outskirts of Dorchester, close to a shop
The hosts are excellent and friendly. A very tasty breakfast and set up in a way you talk to other guests. We slept in one of the lodges to the rear which was exceptional, clean and tidy.
All the best for the future Gary
Location was very good. Breakfast was good. The weather was very poor so we stayed in the hotel for dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of the menu. We had expected a traditional, somewhat boring menu, but the menu was modern and the food quality was excellent. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating.
Owner was very attentive and catered for the fussy eater in our party nothing was to much trouble for them and very welcoming would definitely stay again keep up the good work hotel is also in a very good location close to the centre of Dorchester breakfast was delicious and the owner gave us ideas on places to eat at nighttime
Beautiful period building, wonderful decoration and furnishings in a most convenient location to visit all Dorchester and indeed Dorsets many attractions. Very attentive staff providing delicious breakfast offerings and fabulous coffee to start your day. Room was super clean with crispy fresh linen. A real treasure to find !
Great little cottage set in a quiet area with lovely views of trees to the rear. Fantastic parking on residence carpark just outside the rear of the property. Easy walk into Dorchester - always a pleasure to visit and easy commute to the Dorset coast.
Definitely the best place to stay if you're thinking of staying in Dorchester. Newly refurbished, very nice and attentive staff, modern and clean rooms. Great design throughout the hotel. Nice breakfast if you're staying a day or two.
Breakfast was really nice, The food for our evening meal was exceptional and very good value for money. The hotel is handily placed for visiting Dorchester, Portland, Tolpuddle, Cerne Abbas, and Weymouth.. A very enjoyable stay.
Superb Breakfast that outshone many hotels. Home cooked with good ingredients that are not cheap. Bacon and sausages where lovely. Well looked after over the breakfast period. Good coffee to which is important to us.
Our room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was sufficient to set us up for the day. The Inn is in a quiet hamlet outside Dorchester and as such is centrally situated for touring Dorset.
Perfect location for Dorchester and Weymouth. A beautiful 4th floor room with great views and very quiet. Lovely Christmas decorations enhancing the character of the hotel.
All of the staff were excellent, as was the breakfast.. This is an excellent location for visiting the area of Dorset. Dorchester is a lovely place to stay and explore.
