We arrived on a really hot day and it was lovely to see that they had a beer garden where we were able to have a nice cool drink in the sun. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. We went for a walk before dinner and there was a map with a route for you to follow over open countryside. We ate in the restaurant/ bar. The food was really tasty. Breakfast was good in the morning , we had a cooked breakfast which was large.

Darwen is my home town so it would have been nice to stay a little longer in order to catch up with a few more friends and family. This is the first time we have stayed at The Whitehall but it won’t be the last. The breakfasts were a farce , no supervision of staff , a manager was no where to be seen. They ran out of several basics and the food on the buffet was stewed and dried up. No bowls and the waitress thought muesli was the same as granola. Fawty towers springs to mind!!!!

A good traditional hotel. Helpful friendly staff. Good breakfasts. Our standard room with bathroom was absolutely fine, really clean and with all facilities, but a little small, should have booked a bigger room. Nice bar and lounge area. Lovely terrace and gardens, had it been summer.

The breakfast was great. We had self service the first two mornings in the light, airy conservatory overlooking the garden. The last morning we had the smaller dining room to ourselves and the a la carte menu which had some extra choices. Car parking is unobtrusive and plenty of spaces. One of the rooms had views over the garden and countryside beyond.
