Shower very poor. Stairs to room outrageously noisy! What’s going on there?

We arrived on a really hot day and it was lovely to see that they had a beer garden where we were able to have a nice cool drink in the sun. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. We went for a walk before dinner and there was a map with a route for you to follow over open countryside. We ate in the restaurant/ bar. The food was really tasty. Breakfast was good in the morning , we had a cooked breakfast which was large.

Darwen is my home town so it would have been nice to stay a little longer in order to catch up with a few more friends and family.
This is the first time we have stayed at The Whitehall but it won’t be the last. We were made to feel so welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed the short time we spent there.

The breakfasts were a farce , no supervision of staff , a manager was no where to be seen. They ran out of several basics and the food on the buffet was stewed and dried up. No bowls and the waitress thought muesli was the same as granola.

A good traditional hotel. Helpful friendly staff.
A good traditional hotel. Helpful friendly staff. Good breakfasts. Our standard room with bathroom was absolutely fine, really clean and with all facilities, but a little small, should have booked a bigger room. Nice bar and lounge area. Lovely terrace and gardens, had it been summer.

The pub itself is fantastic - the road to it is not.
The pub itself is fantastic - the road to it is not. Careful driving is needed and a small car a good thing. Unusually though, it has a train station right below it (request stops) so you wouldn't need to travel by car. Dogs are very well catered for.

Staying at the strawberry duck is the ideal base to explore this region of the Pennines
There are some fantastic walks around the several resivoirs in the area
We used the train station at entwistle to travel to whalley and other villages to sample the great beers on offer
There are some fantastic artisans in this trendy area
Excellent staff - friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel is set in lovely grounds with plenty of outdoor seating. The breakfast was great. We had self service the first two mornings in the light, airy conservatory overlooking the garden. The last morning we had the smaller dining room to ourselves and the a la carte menu which had some extra choices. Car parking is unobtrusive and plenty of spaces. One of the rooms had views over the garden and countryside beyond.
The truly delightful former country home of The Hindle Family now converted into a splendid hotel Everything here was first class and the charming Greek general manager has an exceptional team of professionals this truly is a little jewel of a hotel which I consider myself most fortunate to have discovered and please don’t get me started on the fabulous breakfasts available !
We,ve stayed at the property before for a family reunion so we new it would be good for another family get together
the property is stocked with everything you could need should you wish to cook and entertain Lovely view of Darwen Tower
and Blackpool
Our host even gifted us with a bottle of wine and eggs which was an added bonus
Although quiet and isolated it is within easy reach of Bolton and Darwen. The railway station right outside could be useful for travel further afield without the car. The walks around the reservoir are very pleasant. The breakfast is very good as is the restaurant. All round a very pleasant place to stay.
Superb staff in the restaurant. Happy, attentive, great service for dinner and breakfast, Reception staff friendly and well drilled too. Hotel in good shape and very clean inside and out. Can't really fault anything.
The breakfast was very good - my husband was particularly impressed with it. The hotel grounds were pleasant and spacious. The staff were very friendly and pleasant, particularly the Polish receptionist.
I was amazed at how beautiful the place was - keep it up! The staff kept things very pleasant, guided me around the hotel, and got me settled immediately into the room. Breakfast was awesome and fast!
Lovely property with stunning views and brilliantly furnished with everything you could need for a stay on Darwen. Jude and Peter were fantastic hosts and we'd love to stay again when in the area.
Friendly relaxed hotel in lovely surroundings. Staff would super friendly and helpful. Delicious, good value meal and equally good ale. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again
