We stayed in the suite which was a great size but the bathroom needed some TLC. The staff were very friendly.

The cottage was absolutely beautiful, a real home from home.
The cottage was absolutely beautiful, a real home from home. It was equipped with everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. Views from the cottage were lovely looking over the countryside. The garden was nice although we didn't sit out but is ideal for anyone with children or dogs as its fully enclosed. The roads to the cottage were quite narrow but certainly didn't put us off, as this is the case with a lot of roads in the area. It was ideally located 15 mins from Windermere and same to Kendal. Would recommend the Old Watermill pub for eating out, they are dog friendly and the food is beautiful but not too pricey. Will definitely book again.

The facilities are dated and all be aware the dogs are noisy especially if left in rooms on their own , and with being a dog friendly hotel , it should be identified that the rooms are not up to the cleanliness of a normal hotel, any movement in the night, the dogs bark and when one starts, they all go for it.

We loved the location but you need transport.
We loved the location but you need transport. If you are looking for peace and quiet in a rural location this is a great location.
It is only a 15 min drive into Bowness so a busier, tourist location is nearby. The location is good for both central and south Lakes. We would recommend.

Not much to say because there isn't much in the village except a very nice pub/restaurant. However, returning to the solitude of the village after a day with the tourist masses in Windermere, Ambleside etc is welcome. There are some lovely walks around the village into the hills, though we didn't tread them on this occasion.

Liked that the location although it seemed a bit out of the way was very tranquil, and considering how busy bowness was, it was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle, but a good location for driving to and from the lakes. The hotel itself in parts looked a bit dated, but was very clean, pool and steam room were good, didn't use the gym so can't comment, overall it is a hotel I would definitely return to.
The location is stunning with beautiful gardens and scenery. Dinner at the bar was lovely and I was blown away with how pet-friendly the hotel was. Our dog was allowed to go everywhere that we went, including to dinner/breakfast. There is a lovely pond with ducks and ample space for children to play, dogs to play, picnics, etc. The menu had a good variety of options and despite COVID, it was easy to order items from the bar, etc. Well done :)
The 2nd room we were given was a vast improvement on the first which was shocking. We paid £195 per night and were shown into a small dank room with a broken dressing table a tiny grubby bathroom. We had to stay in this room for 1 out of our 3 night stay. The subsequent room was an improvement, a decent size and a much larger bathroom which was clean and well maintained. The hotel waiting staff were excellent, very friendly and efficient.
everything although the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.
The restaurant is fairly priced and good food and most of all my wife is celiac and as a nut allergy , I informed the hotel at time of booking and they are right on it . from a meal in the restaurant to breakfast in the morning they had advise and alternatives ready , this allowed us to dine with confidence , and I thank the hotel and staff for this.
The hotel staff were great. Pleasant, helpful, and friendly. The location was a little hard to get to, but close to Lake Windemere, but on a heavy traffic narrow road. However the food was very good. Breakfasts were good and promply served and the dinners were excellent and generous portions. The setting was scenic and quiet.. It was a pleasant stay overall, in spite of the accessibility issues.
The staff are so friendly and amazing with my children.they go way beyond a normal hotel staff to keep the children entertained.thats twice iv stayed for the weekend in the last month.totally recommend, the views and location are amazing .I thought it was unbelievable that Natalia remembered my son's birthday on arrival and wished him a happy birthday
The location, facilities and staff were all top notch. The breakfast was exceptional and nothing was too much for the lovely young waiting on staff.
The hotel is dog friendly, yet you wouldn’t know. There was no smell of dogs and the ones that were staying were very well behaved as there was no barking.
The hotel is in a beautiful setting. Very picturesque place. Our rooms were really lovely. I travelled with my sister in law and we both had a room with a four poster bed. Lovely en-suites. Great place for getting into windermere and surrounding areas.
Staff were lovely. Food was great.
Hotel and room where clean, breakfast was good. Liked being able to sit outside by the lake with a coffee with a lovely view and watching the wildlife it was so peaceful. The leisure facilities where good too. A good base for exploring the Lake District.
Great place to stay, lovely hotel with superb staff, breakfast was brilliant as was the afternoon tea and the staff were great and very helpful, the coal fire was always well stocked and burning which added more comfort, wold definitely recommend
