Loved being on a farm, liked our little garden area as well as it having a communal garden. Liked the style of the rooms and decor. Loved the location in the valley. Liked the wood burner to keep us warm in the chill evening. Plenty of storage for our clothing and walking gear. Liked the boot rack - I will be getting a few of those myself. Liked the cream tea on arrival.

Beautiful scenery, the lodge is thoroughly clean and well equipped, more than enough board games, PlayStation and games... Free access to the farm animals, the kids loved it. Trampoline outside the lodge and sitting area. We had a lovely three days spent in Colyton, despite the weather being miserable, there are so many things to do.

The Old Bakehouse, hotel in Colyton

The Old Bakehouse enjoys a location in Colyton, 16 miles from Golden Cap and 25 miles from Sandy Park Rugby Stadium.

My wife and I visited Colyton for a wedding and stayed four nights at the historic Old Bakehouse. The inn was comfortable, perfectly clean, had excellent Wi-Fi, and was located conveniently in the Devon County area with easy access to nearby Seaton, Lyme Regis, Beer, and the Axminister train station. The common areas were wonderful, and the owners, Steve and Fiona, were without equals. Steve greeted us with a smile, was very welcoming and helped us to our room (after a long journey traveling from the US) while also explaining necessary details about the room, breakfast, common area, etc. Our room (No. 1) was very comfortable, had a kettle with tea, coffee bags, and biscuits which were replenished daily. The room’s ensuite bathroom (also refreshed daily) was appropriately spacious and supplied with soft towels along with eco-friendly soaps and shampoos. The breakfast was superb with a choice of made to order traditional full English breakfast or other options that included poached egg with salmon, selected fresh fruits, cereals, yogurts, jams, and juices. The dining room was a pleasant area with an adjoining lounge and a superb collection of books and vinyl records for listening and relaxation. The Old Bake house is a hidden gem in Colyton and meets all the needs of a perfect weekend getaway or holiday. The owners, Steve and Fiona, were accessible and extremely helpful in providing information regarding local activities. We will stay here again the next time we visit.

The Mariners Hotel, hotel in Colyton

Featuring sea views, The Mariners Hotel is nestled in the heart of Lyme Regis. Dating back to the 17th century, this former coaching inn has a large private garden and rooms with free WiFi access.

Breakfast and location were perfect. There were no foldable luggage racks so we had to put suitcases on bed or floor. But the clean towels were stored on the bed. Odd

The Masons Arms, hotel in Colyton

The Mason Arms is located on Devon’s Jurassic Coast, just a 10-minute walk from Branscombe Beach.

We found everything about the Masons Arms to be exceptional. The property is well maintained and is located on a quiet street in a small village, which the setting allowed us to relax and enjoy the overall experience. The room was very well appointed, with a very comfortable bed and large en-suite. Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant was both very delightful.

A lovely hamlet with the Kingfisher pub warm and friendly.

A lovely hamlet with the Kingfisher pub warm and friendly. Meals were very good but booking was required as tables in high demand. Colyton had a railway tram which goes to Seaton passing some beautiful marsh land. The cafe at the tram station has some nice food.

The Colyton community greet you when passing which I found charming. Parking could be a problem in high season. The lanes are narrow but, oh my goodness, enchanting historical buildings - I so wished they could talk! The Kingfisher serves excellent meals as does The Wheelwright Arms, a short drive away. Really enjoyed the lunch at Toast Cafe in Honiton - not to mention their delicious array of cakes and the other irresistible fare. Travelling to Sidmouth, Honiton, Beer, Exeter are all accessible from Colyton so a great location.

Delightful small village, slightly more going on than I'd imagined, having a choice of a couple of good convenience shops, two pubs, excellent bakery, eateries. Great base for the local area by foot, bus or car.

Very historical village, has two public houses, chip shop, local store, bookshop, chemist, beautiful church, river Coly running alongside stretches of village. Good base to explore surrounding area. Ate in the Kingfisher pub, good honest food, good service despite being in need of more staff. Lovely small garden centre and cafe found amongst the houses.
