Communication with the owner was excellent. I was warmly welcomed, the room was sparkling clean, and the homemade oat biscuit was lovely! The breakfast frittata was extremely well prepared and loved to try the traditional Ullapool smoked salmon. This place will leave excellent memories!

We loved the setting of the bungalow, facing the loch, just stunning! Our room was comfortable and cosy, and very clean and inviting. Breakfast was delicious. Anna and Sandy are two of the nicest people we’ve come across on our many travels, they were very welcoming and friendly, we really enjoyed chatting with them both, they made us feel like old friends.. We can certainly recommend a stay with them!

Great welcome at check in and even got my bag taken to the room. Very comfortable room with amazing views. Cosy guest lounge to relax in pre and post dinner with an open fire. Food veers more towards fine dining but was generally excellent. The property has had new owners for the last 8 months and from reading previous reviews they have definitely made many great improvements and I would love to come back again some time and see not only the spectacular surrounding scenery but to see how they continue to put their own stamp on this lovely property.

The breakfast was a true delight - no grease and packed full of taste. Superb facilities and staff were friendly, polite and gave the impression that they were happy to help with any query. Stunning views as well, especially if you catch a break in the weather and have a sunny day over the Gairloch!

Altbea is a tiny fishing village on the shore of Loch Ewe...
Altbea is a tiny fishing village on the shore of Loch Ewe where the Arctic Convoys set sail with aid for Russia during WW2. There is a fascinating museum dedicated to the Arctic Convoys which is a must-see. There is also a Wartime Trail which takes you on a journey round the local area and highlights all the significant wartime sites. It is a beautiful area to visit and is steeped in history.

Aultbea is a stunning area.
Aultbea is a stunning area. We were blessed with the weather and the views over the mountains and the lochs amazing. It could be a place for piece and quiet or use centrally for visiting the local area. There is a local little shop for supplies. Andrew was very generous with providing everything needed for a pleasant stay. He is in the process of doing some minor renovations, but these are only surface and didn't in any way detract from the comfort of our stay.

Cartmel was in an excellent location around the corner from the Arctic Convoy Museum which we had travelled to see. The room was clean and comfortable. We were pleased to be able to have an evening meal although there was no option to have a dessert. Meals were taken at the breakfast bar in the room and delivered on a trolley which was super safe although I personally prefer to be in a dining room. We had a cooked breakfast with bread and butter but there were no cereals, juice, fruit or toast. Friendly hosts. A very quiet village (in the winter) . There is one very nice local shop with a small cafe bar and very friendly staff. the Local hotel has shut down indefinitely apparently. the crafts etc shops all close down for winter. a beautiful spot, with great walking opportunities (if you dont mind the weather).

I had a great breakfast with freshly laid egg. I was asked what I'd like and it was made as requested. It was served on a trolly and taken to my room at the time I requested Samantha and David were friendly hosts. Samantha made time to show me the garden and answered my inquisitive questions about her hens, turkey etc. The room I was in would be very good value for two or three people. There was a double and single bed in it.

Aultbea is a really nice village and there are many wonderful places to go around. The owner, Michele, is an incredibly friendly woman. If you have any trouble, you know you are able to count on her, she is a such amazing woman… All my family and I are waiting to see her again!
