We loved the historic, quiet beauty of Villefranche-sur-Mer.
We loved the historic, quiet beauty of Villefranche-sur-Mer. We know it would be much busier in Summer so being there at the start of Spring was perfect although some restaurants were not open - April would probably be the ideal time. It is such a pretty town with a lovely harbour and so different to the glitzy high-rise of other parts of the French Riviera. The people were friendly and it was easy to travel beyond the town by train or bus to places like Nice, Monaco and Cap Ferrat. The tourism information centre people were very helpful, as were the friendly staff at Les Palmiers - great food too. We visited the Citadel and also the gorgeous Saint-Pierre chapel which was decorated outside and inside by Jean Cocteau.AmandaAustralia - 10Scored 10

It is just such a beautiful place. Maybe not so suited for elderly or disabled people because there are a lot of stairs down to the vibrant area of the port and beach where most of the restaurants and bars are located. We had wonderful meals and drinks in great bars and loved sitting close to the water to eat our meal !! There is a little shuttle bus that can take you down from the top to the bottom but it only goes once an hour!josephineAustralia - 6.0Scored 6.0

Very hilly withy difficult driving. Suggest renting an automatic car. Eze was worth a short visit. We ate in a bistro just down the ro0ad from the hotel. Getting around is NOT easy. It would be better being lower down the mountain to make walking more possible

It's a beautiful area and there are several cafes and restaurants to choose from. Lots of interesting walks and also lovely beaches where the sea is calm which is great for children. Recommend Plage La Mariniere for young families. Unfortunately, Hotel Villa Patricia is not recommended- until there is a change of management. Terribly unprofessional manager at the moment (September 2023).

The place you want to live in if you love the city but also love to be away from tourists. Of course you're going to see tourists all over the French Rivera but Ville Franche-Sur-Mer has this vibe and energy I cannot describe, but it's just something else. It's magical and lovely.

What a fantastic village on the Riviera!
What a fantastic village on the Riviera! We loved the accessibility to everything, and gorgeous old town. The restaurant scene was exactly what my family was looking for (we travelled with children ages 11 and 5). We chose Villafranche based on reviews of the sandy beach at Plage de Marinieres, which did not disappoint! My family did rent a vehicle, and parking was fairly easy for us. There is a large public (paid) lot down by the beaches that offers easy accessibility to the old town and restaurant scene. I'm not sure our experience would have been as thorough had we not had a car to take us to different areas. The walking around the village is more than some may like due to the elevation (for long periods of time), and the bus schedules can vary. Also, Villafranche is quite central to many desirable areas on the east side of the Riviera, and was great for day trips by car. We also visited St. Paul de Vence, Old Town Nice, Eze Village, Menton, Monaco, and even went into Italy one evening for a meal.Lisa

Bistro-like cafe and bar on the ground floor where the locals liked to hang out. A good breakfast, although not included in the room, was served in the cafe. Good location, an easy walk into the old town and restaurants. Parking right across the street. This is in no sense, a plush establishment but is a very good value for the money and I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

The air conditioning worked well. The bed was comfortable and the shower worked well. The pool was refreshing and they gave us towels for the pool and the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. They served a very good breakfast with eggs made to order and many other nice choices. Eating breakfast on the terrace was one of the highlights of our trip. We really enjoyed our stay.

Very good breakfast and a lovely bar area with balcony. Nice pool to relax and cool down! Well maintained grounds. Buses run past the hotel frequently to visit places like Nice, Monaco and Eze. Taxis and Ubers also easily available to get to and from the village. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The bus was located right at the apartment so it was a quick walk to town or a 2 minute bus ride when we were tired. The hotel pool is nice and the beach is just a short walk away.
