They also own a restaurant 1 minute away which he is the chef and we had a lovely meal there for very reasonable prices. The wife is the gem there. So friendly and helpful. Moved us to a room with aircon which we booked. Some rooms don't have it. Lovely local pints and wine offered. Beautiful location looking out at the historical D'Orvical Church from 1146. She speaks clear English and joined us for a while to chat about her life and the town's history. Would highly recommend this hotel.

The family room was spacious and comfortable with a double bed and bunk bed and compact bathroom with great shower (and plenty of hot water after a day’s walking!) Accommodation is in the Hotel Roche, but dinner is across the village square in their very good restaurant, Le Cantou. There are also other excellent restaurants in the village for some variation. Coralie, on reception, is a delight and extremely helpful and friendly.

The breakfast was excellent, many different local cheeses and charcutterie from Auvergne, delicious homemade fruit pies and bread. We were overwhelmed and very satisfied. Furthermore we ordered a 3 course menu every evening, which our hostess, the hotel owner, cooked ecxellent and we looked forward "coming home" for this surprise of the day. Our hostess is an exstremely humorous and a nice person and so is her daily helper/assistance.

The hotel had made a reservation for us at the restaurant, and first we we had a real 'Auvergne' meal, then the waiter gave us the key and walked us the 50 m to the hotel. Our room was at the first floor with a nice view to the basilisk. Small, but clean and comfortable. You can have breakfast, but we did not.JetteDenmark
