The world capital of espadrilles! Bought MANY pairs. Chateau, old fort, great hotel - Domaine Agerria, exquisite countryside. Peace and quiet until the motocross and the market, then very lively. Fireworks too. I LOVED the Basque people and learning about their history and culture. Read up on the Basque before you go. I will go back during the summer espadrille festival. BEST ESPADRILLES ARE Don Quichosse. You can buy on-line donquichosse.com.

The hotel is run by the local town council and this shows in the design and standard of the communal areas. Staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are perfectly clean and quite spacious, with a fabulous view over the vineyard, town and the distant hills.

Romm was lovely, with 2 windows and very clean. Very nice bathroom, with powerful shower and clean.
