LOGIS - Château de la Motte - Hôtel & Restaurant, hotel in Liessies

The LOGIS - Château de la Motte - Hôtel & Restaurant, built in the 18th century, is located in Mormal Forest. It features a French restaurant that serves regional products, a garden and spa...

The hotel is set in a quiet, rural location. The room was really good with a separate sitting room with sofa, a separate bedroom and a shower room. The shower was really good and the bed was comfortable. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was good with plenty of choice. All the staff were helpful and friendly.

Le Relais du Biau Ri, hotel in Liessies

Offering a garden and garden view, Le Relais du Biau Ri is situated in Clairfayts, 42 km from Charleroi Expo and 6.4 km from MusVerre.

My wife and I stayed at Le Relais du Biau Ri for just one night, using it as a stop-off point to break up our journey onward to Calais and Eurotunnel. We had some difficulty finding it at first (our google maps took us elsewhere until we asked a helpful local resident - there is actually more than one location with the same/similar address so be aware of this). On arrival, Michele greeted us warmly and gave us a tour of the accommodation. Michele and her husband live in another section of the same renovated house in a peaceful, rural setting. The accommodation itself was lovely (it is upstairs though, so be mindful of this) - very clean with a well-resourced kitchen area and a lovely bathroom. The bedroom was very cosy and we slept very well. We also enjoyed the seating area outside the property - just what we needed to relax after our rather long journey. We paid the extra 7 EUROs each for breakfast (which Michele very kindly adapted because my wife is a coeliac and needs a gluten-free diet). We then had a lovely conversation with Michele and her husband whilst eating our breakfast - we were even introduced to their talkative donkey :-) For us, Le Relais du Biau Ri ticked the boxes we required from it and we would use it again in the future for a similar journey stop-off point. You need to consider what you would do for food if staying here (we had brought some bits and pieces to tide us over and also knew we would have a breakfast in the morning - we're not too sure what the eating options would be otherwise - you'd have to do a little research). What is certain is that Michele and her husband were very friendly and hospitable and the accommodation was spotlessly clean and has been well-thought through.

Le Domaine des Fagnes, hotel in Liessies

Gîte Le Domaine des Fagnes is located in Sains-du-Nord, 14 km from Avesnois Nature Park and a 20-minute drive from the Belgian border.

The accommodation was great, clean and very cozy. Also the breakfast was excellent, arriving a picnic hamper with plenty of choice and far too much to fill our bellies.

It's a little rural French town near the Belgian border.

It's a little rural French town near the Belgian border. Either that tells you everything or that tells you nothing! If the latter, then I suspect it's probably not for you, but hey, what do I know? There's no nightlife to my knowledge, and precious little daylife. That was perfect for us :-) Lots of forests and lakes and cycle routes and not much traffic. But for the historically minded, there's a genuine antique (1920s?) petrol pump in the middle of town (although it's no longer in service).

The hotel is an impressive converted monastry and quite quirky. The location is very quiet with ample parking. Staff were helpful and breakfast was fine.
