La Tremblade is an old fishing village where oysters are supreme. The outdoor Saturday market is extensive and well-attended and the 1864 fish market building is more than would ever have been imagined. Ronce les Bain just a few KM further up the coast is a great small resort with lots of choice for food, good bars and a great spot for a few nights. Lots of beaches to choose from even choice of Atlantic view or estuary.

Lots of lovely restaurants and easy striking distance for lots of beaches/towns and chateaux. The only downer is Bordeaux airport which had a dreadful hangar for easyjet/ryanair travellers. Worst airport we have ever been to,
