Houdan is a lovely old town, filled with characterful...
Houdan is a lovely old town, filled with characterful buildings and winding streets. It has an interesting old Cathedral in the centre and an old keep nearby. A lovely old French village, without mobs of tourists. A good place to find cheeses and wines of the region, and of course the ubiquitous bakeries. It has a range of eating options from the usual take-aways and budget options, as well as traditional French restaurants where you will find locals out for an evening, and if you want something more up market, you will find that too. It makes a very pleasant stopping point in a very picturesque area reasonably close to Paris.

This was a really good 'find'. The accommodation is excellent and there is a gourmet restaurant which we sampled. The cooking s superb. Astonishingly the place seems to be run by one person who does all the gourmet cooking, and one waitress. There is a large garden and a swimming pool. We were visiting family and location was perfect

Make sure to book as it is very popular with locals. Would have loved to venture into Houdan but didn’t have the time as this was a one night stop off for us.
