Ferrette is a pretty small town, but absolutely beautifully located in the foothills of the Alsacian Jura, near the border with Switzerland. The area is not very touristic, but if you are looking for a perfect landscape for hiking, especially in late summer/early autumn, this is the region you have been looking for. One of the culinary specialties of the Sundgau, which is the southern part of the Alsace, is Carpe Frite, fried carp. Make sure you sample it in one of the restaurants that is part of the 'route du carpe frite'. My personal preference would be a stay at the Hotel Restaurant Collin in Ferrette that also offers other regional specialties at very moderate prices.

This is truly a home away from home. We love everything there and we will remember the beauty of the house and our dear hosts. We traveled all over the world and Ferrette is the hidden gem and it is absolutely the best of the best!

The stairs were no problem and worth it for the beautifully clean room. There were lots of rooms on the lower floors which would be easily accessible for people with more limited mobility. The Restaurant was absolutely amazing the food was delicious and nicely presented. The choices of food are exceptional and everything is freshly prepared.
