Its history was a surprise, having an enormous cathedral as testament to being an archbishopric covering about a quarter of what is now France, and delivering a pope, all around 1000 years ago. We were there height of season, and the better restaurants were almost fully booked in advance. It pays to plan !

This was a temporary base before moving to Les orres ski resort and it was a great. Although the apartment doesn't have views the walks nearby are pretty and you are in easy reach of all main shops and transit links. We stayed another night in an hotel embrun a week later and I regret not booking here again as it was great for us especially as we're vegans and rely on self catering.

The pool and spa required a "reservation", it was not clear to us if it was covid related (We could not detect any covid measures during our stay) this resulted in a complete pool and spa for ourselves The Hotel has a great view over the valley towards the mountains and has an excellent restaurant. The breakfast is great!

We were lucky enough to be in Embrum for the Fête Médiévale and this apartment was perfect to be close to the activities whilst also being quiet.
