My friend and I had a wonderful stay at 'Casa de Carlos'!
The property is nicely maintained and surprisingly spacious. The terrace is a good size and although it overlooks the road, this is a mountain road and therefore not super busy or noisy, apart from the occasional motorbike convoy!
There are two good restaurants at the bottom of the street and two others which are a short walk away.
It's easy to park (if you have a car) and there are two convenience stores and two bakeries nearby.
The mountain road is a little scary to drive on, but it's fine after a bit of practice. It only takes an hour or so to get to the beaches on the south coast. Everywhere is easily accessible by either braving the mountain roads or jumping onto the motorway.
Carlos is a wonderful host and couldn't do enough to help us!
If you want to experience Gran Canaria without staying in a resort, if you love to wake up to beautiful scenery and are looking for a relaxing break away from the crowds, this is a great place to stay. I thoroughly recommend it.

Horst and Ernesto are amazing hosts -- they really made me feel at home. Everything was taken care of (extra water, blankets, flexible meal time, tea) and they were so kind to pick me up from the bus stop. This has become my newest favorite retreat. Will definitely come back!
