A lovely little city in Lower Saxony, which seems to have been spared much of the destruction that beset Germany in the second war. (It also has one of Europe's best libraries...). One finds some good restaurants, too. I would recommend a Turkish place named Le Bosphore, on "Stadtmarkt Strasse".

Quaint little city, pretty buildings, castle with special guided tours (try the Tanzmeister ;-) ), world famous library. New leisure activities such as disc golf, a renovated publuc swimming pool, fitness parcours, etc. Restaurant tip La Domenica, just off Schlossplatz - good Italian food :)

A really pretty town full of half timbered houses.
A really pretty town full of half timbered houses. Lovely park and river. Beautiful square and attractive castle. Very valuable collection of ancient books and manuscripts in the library. Home of Jägermeister - really interesting free tour with lovely gift at the end! Some nice restaurants- great Italien - L'Oliveto - really good food and cocktails. Excellent Chinese - Wan Bao - great food - always full - make sure you book! Friendly staff!

Taxi was 10 Euro to centre. But clean, comfortable and friendly. Fantastic continental breakfast in the shared restaurant. Very much liked this place and no hesitation in recommending to others. I will would whenever I return to the area.
