Spent a week in May 2023. Apartment was beautiful, big, clean and modern. Excellent quiet balcony to sit on in the evening overlooking the Schwarzwald Hills. Received a pass from the owner for free public transport and free access to the Oberkirch communal swimming pool (which is very close by and excellent to both relax and for the kids to play for hours). Walking routes are straight out of the front of property into the farmers fruit- and vineyards into the forest. Oberkirch offers all the shops and restaurants needed. As can be seen.....we loved it and we will be returning. Many thanks!

Very nice place, better to live out of the city, closer to nature. The city is very clean and beautiful, it has a rich culture, a lot of restaurants, even a vegan one. Around the town you have the Blackforest, a lot of wineries, where you can try and buy local wines and liqueurs, local fruits. You would probably want to walk a lot in the woods as well as take a bus or train and discover other villages and towns around. Then enjoy those amazing sunsets with a glass of wine. We spent a week there and would return for 10-14 days next time.

Oberkirch is a pretty town on the edge of the Black Forest.
Oberkirch is a pretty town on the edge of the Black Forest. It makes an excellent place for a one or two night break on a longer journey. Do visit Renner’s Wine Shop. The local wines are very good and very reasonably priced. There are plenty of good eating places on the Main Street. The castle is interesting, but rather a climb to reach. There are seasonal strawberry and wine festivals.
