The staff were especially friendly and helpful.
This 4-star, sports and family resort offers rooms and apartments just outside Daun. Set in a large park, it is a good base for exploring the volcanic Eifel region.

The breakfast buffet is superb; it really leaves nothing to be desired. The dinner buffet needs to be discussed in a more differentiated way: The selection of appetizers is again superb, including the variety of sopus. About the main course, however, we were less enthusiastic. The meat choice was rather dry, but the sauce helps. There is nothing really attractice for children. While I'd agree that children should eat what is available, it doesn't help when they are complaining every evening that they don't like the food and just go for the desert (which is, again, nice with a selection of sweets and cheese.) The staff is usually attentive, but waiting next to be till I have actually finished the plate is overdoing it a little.
The pool area is nice and fun for the kids.

Breakfast was good, for German standards (don't expect sausages, beans, or pancakes). We had dinner twice in the excellent restaurant which had efficient and friendly service and good pricing. The garden of the restaurant is very interesting and we loved watching the ducks and the rooster. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with a lot of hiking trails. Don't miss visiting the castle ruins on the Nerother Kopf, just a couple of km from there. Free parking on the premises.
