A blend of Colour, Cultural and Architectural Gems
Erfurt is a perfect base for exploring the state of Thuringia. This lively and cultural town is home to the spectacular Erfurt Cathedral and Augustinian Monastery, Merchants Bridge, and the renowned Krämerbrücke.
The best way to explore Erfurt is by foot, and whilst doing so ensure to wander through Stadtpark and Egapark and stroll around the Old Town which is lined by colourful and medieval houses.

One night and a day in Erfurt is sufficient to see the sights. It's worth a trip. The hotel is 10/15 minutes walk for the station and is a clean, value-for-money place well-located for what you need to see. I had a small, single room which was perfectly adequate for one night.

This is a most interesting town dating from 1200 at least.
This is a most interesting town dating from 1200 at least. There was a Jewish community from 10000 and I went to the Alte Synagog and would recommend it for information about a possible UNESCO site and a recreation of one of the oldest synagogues in Europe. Also - 14th century treasure! Unbelievably saved from 1349 - jewellery, rings, coins, all in excellent condition,.
I was also privileged to go to a Christmas Service at St Michaels Church (near to the theatre) which is the home of Ukrainians in Germany,

A delightful town to wander around.
A delightful town to wander around. The restaurants tended to close around 9 pm, (in October) but there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. A couple of convenient trams wind their way through the centre from the station. Unusually for Germany, Erfurt was not heavily bombed so there is an interesting mix of architectural styles.
It would be good if Tourist Information could provide route maps identifying points /houses of interest. (We found the Altes Synagogue hard to find)

Erfurt is beautiful.
Erfurt is beautiful. A little taste of history, all the buildings are well preserved. Very easily accessible by foot and public transit, although the frequency of trains slows down early in the evening.
The cafes and restaurants are all wonderful. We ate at the Schnitzeler in Domplatz on the first night, which was excellent and with huge portions. During the day, getting a wurst from one of the street vendors in Domplatz is a must. If you are craving Ramen, check out JEN. The Hirsch Heinrich Sommergarten is the perfect place to spend an afternoon.
For sights, you need to check out Domplatz, Kramerbrucker and Anger Plaza. If it's a hot day, I highly recommend going to the outdoor pool at Nordpark.

Erfurt is a beautiful town full of charm and magic.
Erfurt is a beautiful town full of charm and magic. There are so many things to see most out of doors and without admission charges. The cathedral is very impressive. There’s a bakery on every block that serves great sandwiches-better than most restaurant dinners. There a more cafés than you can imagine all with wonderful specialties especially if you’re into coffee and cake, eiskaffee, or chocolate.

The Augustinerkloster and Old Synagogue tours were both excellent-highly recommend. If you are looking for a good breakfast, try Cafe del Sol. It is a little outside of town, but the bus stops very close to it.
We had a little mishap for a room reservation in Erfurt. So we had to find a new hotel fast! Found this place on the fly while standing in the middle of the main square in Erfurt! So glad we did! The front desk clerk was super friendly, accommodating. Our room was big, clean. The location would be perfect if you were flying out of Erfurt. We took the train into downtown Erfurt that night. The train stop was a 2 minute walk from the hotel. Parking is free. Breakfast was a nice, typical German spread. Really glad we found this place!
One week in Germany, four hotels, and this was by far the best of the lot. We had one of the rooms overlooking the "bridge", and it was exceptional. It was huge, the beds were great, the room had coffee service (A BIG plus) and air-conditioning (also a BIG plus). The full service front desk was staffed by excellent individuals who did a wonderful job explaining what to see and how to get to the places we wanted to see. Included underground (free) parking was very welcome.
The place is lovely, with a comfortable bed, lots of space and quiet at night. An easy walk to the city centre, so we were delighted to have a secure parking spot and not use the car. The Apartment is spacious and well equipped, including a dishwasher and laundry machine, lots of dishes and a great filter coffee machine. The owner was friendly and available. We would definitely recommend staying here when in Erfurt.
P45 is perfect if you want to be within the Erfurt old town and close to most attractions such as Domplatz & Kramerbrucke. We stayed 3 nights in mid December. Maybe its due to the covid situation, but it was pretty quiet and the apartment was a decent size for a family of 3. The building appears old but the room was well furbished and comfortable. Plus, Steffen was a friendly and helpful host!
The hotel is located in a nice and quiet area. The receptionist/caretaker was very helpful regarding the secure parking of my motorcycle. He offered us a lot of information about Erfurt and went out of his way to accommodate us (move his vehicle out of the way and help us park), despite our return to the hotel at a very late hour after visiting the city center.
The room was clean and warm, and the bed was comfy. The shower was hot and had excellent water pressure. Frau Bitterer was very friendly and takes obvious pride in her guesthouse.
It's so conveniently located - 15 minutes on foot from the train station, 10 or so from the Altstadt and the Krämerbrücke, and there's an Edeka about five minutes on foot.
Excellent hotel. Cleaner than clean, excellent bed, full length mirror in the room, great water pressure, and what a great breakfast--I'm plant based and there were many plant-based items to choose from. Lots of parking spaces on the outdoor parking lot.
The location was awesome. A stone's through away from the station and a leisurely stroll away from the main sites in Erfurt. Breakfast was reasonable and varied, staff were pleasant and accommodating.
The bed is comfortable, and the hotel has a modern interior. The calming colors and designs are nice. 24 hr bar. Close to the main train station. About 1km from the historic area.
Perfect location for a visit to Erfurt Old Town. Private parking garage with plenty of space. Room was nice and spacious. Daily shopping available just round the corner
location is excellent and the hotel is ok. I would choose it again if I should come back to Erfurt.
btw Erfurt is a great beautiful city, you must visit.
