We stayed at the Selva Bananito Lodge for two nights over the 2023/24 New Year period.
If nature and the outdoors is your thing, coupled with a destination that is being as ecologically sound and sensitive to its surroundings as possible, then I can’t recommend a stay here highly enough. Various excursions and activities are on offer, we can highly recommend the forest walk and horse riding, Niels was an excellent guide too.
I also opted for a half hour Gyro flight with Jurgen on our final morning. We flew out over the forest to the coast and back to the private airstrip with Jurgen pointing out the extent of their forest and many points of interest along the way, he really is passionate about this land and a good ambassador for what can be achieved. It really puts things into perspective when seen from the air as well.
We could easily have spent longer at the Selva Bananito Lodge as there’s plenty of activities we didn’t get time to do. Even spend some more time bird watching from our cabin veranda.
Finally I’d like to thank Iris for her help, who tirelessly assisted with everything around the lodge and also helped us plan our itinerary in Costa Rica generally.

The Park Hotel is located in the large town of Puerto Limón. It has a terrace with wonderful ocean views, and some rooms also have sea views from floor-to-ceiling windows.

We used this place as a transit hotel with late arrival and early leave the next morning, for this purpose it fit, but I would not stay in Puerto Limon again. The staff was nice and for us it was important to have the possibility for late check in - it worked well. Parking place was like 100 meters ahead from hotel, an area with a guard and fence. Bed was comfortable.

I had a really great stay overall. The self checkin was super easy and well described. The communication was also really fast, friendly and helpful. Everything I needed was there and readily available. The backup fan was also a lifesaver!
