Breakfast is amazing. What looks like a simple toast, bursts into a flavourful of happiness the moment you take the first bite. You also get freshly brewed coffee and juices for breakfast. 2. Great location. It's walking distance from the train station and also the boat ride for the gorge. It's also the last house on the street so it's very quiet at night. 3. Very reasonably priced for a private room. A really comfortable bed and the comforter is perfect for the cold weather as well. The room comes with an aircond/heater and also a humidifier. Towels are provided as well. 4. Showers are shared but it's no problem at all as it's kept very clean and during my stay I did not have to wait to use it. The shower gel and shampoo smells awesome. There's also a bath on the first floor that you can use by placing the magnet with your room number next to an available time slot on the board. 5. Staff were really nice and polite. I was able to store my backpack after checking out. 6. Aesthetically pleasing place as well, especially the dining area overlooking the field.

Situated in Hiraizumi, less than 1 km from Motsuji Temple and 2.3 km from Chuson-ji Temple, Minpaku Hiraizumi offers a garden and air conditioning. Amazing hosts, great location, delicious breakfast. Would have stayed longer if I could.

Situated 16 km from Chuson-ji Temple, Matakitai offers 1-star accommodation in Ichinoseki and has a garden. Very friendly host, we had a late check-in and he was ready for us to arrive. The room was nice, the common area had availability of tea and coffee and lots of stuff for reading.

Located 16 km from Appi Kogen Ski Resort, Pension Entre - deux - Mers offers 2-star accommodation in Hachimantai and features a garden. My wife & I stayed here for 2 nights on our Indy Pass ski trip. The lodge is immaculately clean and cozy. We loved our tatami rooms with private bathroom / shower. The breakfast each day was delicious and filling. The common area had self serve beverages with some snacks available all day. They have both a men’s and women’s Onsen bath that can be reserved by the 1/2 hour time slot and since we were the only ones staying there we had them to ourselves. It’s a quick 10 minute drive to Simokura ski area. There are several restaurants, Akatsuki brewery and several other onsens within walking distance. The best part was the hospitality and kindness of the host couple. Despite the struggles with language, It was fun chatting with them about skiing and their lives (with the help of Google translate). We’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

Located just 2.3 km from Morioka Station, Buchoho No Yado Morioka features accommodation in Morioka with access to free bikes, a shared lounge, as well as a shared kitchen. Great staying in a Japanese house. It was self check in and instructions given before arrival sufficed. Having use of a bike made going round town a lot easier.

タカマス民宿 is located in Ōtsuchi, 10 km from Kamaishi Recovery Memorial Stadium, 18 km from Kamaishi Station, and 41 km from Iwate Prefectural Fishery Science Museum. I stayed longer than I intended. The little town radiates peacefullness. And so does this guesthouse. I felt so comfortable and respected here. I was so perfectly treated I just wanted to stay longer. I actually did. And I want to go back. Live at the end of the world again, feel that small measure of peace again.

Nice little pub serving pizza on the property. The breakfast was perfect. Heated floors in the rooms made it nice and cozy and the showers were top notch!
