Set in Matsumoto, 5 km south from Matsumoto Station,L-BASE features free private parking. Kishinoyu Onsen and Utsukushigahara Onsen are a 20-minute drive from the property. Great for children! Wall to climb and Hamac in the room... Japanese style room..tatami...super comfortable...we slept great...taking of shoes inside... There is a tree house, and a small train for children on property...and city parks not even 5 minutes walking... in car, accessible to a lot of activities... matsumoto castle, alpine park... land lord speaks English...really clean. Oh you need to press a button to turn on warm water... a bit before taking a bath. Nice staff...helpful...

Only 1.5 km from JR Shiojiri Train Station, Hotel Route-Inn Shiojiri features simple yet modern accommodations and a free breakfast for all guests. To no one's surprise, a Japanese hotel is super cleanly and orderly. The Route Inn gives you the option of having a light daily cleaning and a full daily cleaning. I opted for the light cleaning, since I'm not a messy person, and I was only staying for 4 days. The breakfast provided was also fantastic. Served in a buffet style, the hotel restaurant provided a variety of both Western style and Japanese style breakfast foods.

The food was amazing!!! The staff made a real effort to cook us a fantastic Japanese meal and to explain to us how to eat it. The room we stayed in was an authentic Japanese room with no beds (only futons to be rolled out on the floor). I loved having this experience and would recommend for any western travellers looking to have a unique experience.

Guests at Fukashiso can enjoy relaxing in the spacious public/private baths and request for massage services. We used this as one night stop over after visiting the Kurobe Alpine and before going to Nagoya. Was pleasantly surprised with an extremely good dinner. The bath was also nice. Except we are not used to sleeping on futons.
