Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani, hotel in Honolulu

Located in the heart of Waikiki, 2 minutes' walk to Waikiki Beach, Halepuna Waikiki is a luxury boutique hotel surrounded by shopping and dining.

Excellently located, and loved that it felt more private than some of the other high end accommodation options. We noticed a lot of events at other hotels where you’d pass their hotel pool, whereas ours was completely private. Quiet rooms, comfortable beds, friendly staff, everything was great.

Wayfinder Waikiki, hotel in Honolulu

This Honolulu hotel is 5 minutes' walk from Waikiki Beach and overlooks Ala Wai golf course. The hotel offers an outdoor swimming pool and WiFi is included in the price and provided in all rooms.

Decor in rooms was so quirky and beautiful. We had a very comfortable stay, it had everything we needed and was very clean and cared for. The pool, bars, cafe & restaurant were all great too. Staff were very friendly and the biggest plus was that there were little free touches to make your stay feel deluxe. A free drink round the pool, free pool towels and ice cold cloths to cool, free popsicles in the afternoon, superior robes in the room, a complimentary bottle of red wine! All these extra touches made our stay even more special. If we come back to O'ahu we would definitely stay again. Highly recommended.

FAQs about hotels in Honolulu

A True Water Sports Paradise

Standing proudly on the island of Oahu in the Pacific Ocean, Honolulu is the Hawaiian capital, meaning "a sheltered bay." Spreading along the white sandy beaches and supported by the strong back of the volcanic mountains, it's a real island paradise.

Honolulu's most popular and famous district, Waikiki, features the stunning Waikiki Beach decorated with hundreds of surfboards, palms and lounge chairs. It’s also a center for the city’s nightlife and shopping, especially along Kalakaua and Kuhio Avenues.

As the most popular activities in Honolulu include surfing, snorkeling, canoeing and other water sports, it's no surprise the city has a number of sandy beaches. Try Hanauma Bay, a crescent-shaped beach with rolling, green hills behind it.

For fans of hiking and exploring, nature awaits at Diamond Head Mountain, a volcanic tuff cone where you can admire the panoramic view of the city. There is also the Bishop Museum with the world’s largest collection of Hawaiian and Pacific artifacts and the Waikiki Aquarium with over 490 species of marine fauna and flora.

From hotels near Honolulu International Airport to hotels near the beach, Booking.com has plenty of properties, from cheap to luxury, for your Honolulu trip.

Love the warm balmy atmosphere, the trade winds mean you never feel hot or sticky. And the water is so warm at the beach. Love the gardens everywhere and the lovely paved footpaths. The whole tourist area is kept very clean neat and beautiful. The food is fantastic. There is so much free entertainment too. Live bands and hula performances outdoors everywnere. Once you're there you don't have to spend much money at all and there is so much to do and see. You can get cheap food at the food courts plus ABC and Seven-11 stores. And The Bus is so cheap and the drivers are very helpful. Don't miss the fee Military Museum at Fort Derussy park. And the zoo is wonderful. Plus of course the two best attractions, Pearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Centre. And swimming at Waikiki beach in late afternoon and sunset is superb.

    Honolulu was pretty.

Honolulu was pretty. I was shocked at the graffiti I saw at Wai Kiki. That needs to be cleaned up and new walk ways put in. You hear of this beautiful breach your whole life and then you show up and there is graffiti. the people were nice and the beaches were great and on the north shore. Wai Kiki was nice but just busy and graffiti at some spots.

I come every year to Honolulu for an annual conference at one of the big hotels. Honolulu is ok I suppose but it is really just like any provincial US city with beaches! I hear that the other islands are more pleasant. Personally, I would never bring the family for a vacation in Honolulu itself.

Great location. Away from Hussle of kalakaua. Only 2 blocks from beach. Great pool. Very clean room and hotel. Desiree was excellent cleaner. She stocked it with extra linen cause I had longer stay. Many restaurants close but mostly cooked my own meals. Grocery within 1-2 mile. Neighborhood was quiet after 10 pm. Did not go out after 9 pm. Entry to building and elevator was by key fob so safe. Had own private balcony. Room very Hawaiian in decor. Made it feel tropical Oasis. Manager helpful and nice.

BEAUTIFUL!!! Exactly what I would expect from a Hawaii hotel for my first time visiting. It's NOT a resort hotel, but the attached restaurant is great and the location for the price is perfect! Very close to all the shopping and the beach. And across the street are a couple amazing food trucks. One with fresh and unique donuts. The hotel was clean, friendly and they have a valet that made sure my rental was taken care of and ready when I needed it. We loved it so much, we extended an extra night!

One is greeted by an Aloha breeze in the foyer with large glass windows where you can enjoy the rocking chairs and watch the boulevard, beach, and zoo. On the second floor is Lulus Restaurant with an open view of the Waikiki beach. Entering into the Park Shore is a lovely lounge area that plays good Hawaiian music. An excellent Japanese restaurant and the ABC market is in the lounge area, so convenient. The hotel serves AM coffee; however a Starbucks is steps away outside of the ABC market.

I was given the best room and the VIP treatment. Many thanks to the lady in the counter Ms. Denesse Alombro and to the lady at the continental breakfast who made us feel special. We came always late and she had a pack of fruits to take away. We likewise received a special arrival greeting with fresh lei and a box of honolulu cookies delivered to our room to celebrate a special trip. I cud not ask for more. More reasons to be back here everytime I come to the HNL Hawaii. Many thanks,

The staff was amazing! Beach chair rentals and beach towels were easy to check out and very convenient. We saw two adult and one young monk seals on the beach behind the hotel, just relaxing on the beach. The hotel was close to Waikiki (maybe 5 minute walk, if that) but not crowded and outside of the loud nightlife. Very close to the zoo, convenient parking if you rent a car. The views from the room were of the ocean AND the mountains. It exceeded ALL of our expectations.

Location is right within the hustle and bustle in Waikiki! The Saturday free Hula dance performance happens on the beach right in front of the hotel. Great location close to famous Waikiki beach. The tea and coffee table in hotel lobby is great to start your day. Also the hotel staff is nice and try to help. Because of our evening flight, we asked to leave our luggage at reception during the day and it was not a problem. However we couldn't take a shower in the hotel in the evening, they provided us towels so we could take a shower on the beach.

We loved the position of the hotel! We had a corner room overlooking Honolulu Zoo, the beach and Diamond Head. The hotel backs on to the touristy area of Waikiki so, although we weren't far from anything, we felt like we were getting away from the crowds. We loved the simpler, beachy, retro feel of the hotel. The concierge was very helpful assisting us to book a tour of Pearl Harbor.

The location was perfect! The room was comfortable, even if the property is a bit old and had a 70s vibe (but then so is most of Honolulu). I liked that I had a good view of the roadside from my balcony, albeit the sounds of the vehicles were present 24/7. All the basic amenities were amply provided. I love the Hawaiian Tropics shampoo and conditioner. I would stay here again!
