Called the Amber Capital of the World, Gdańsk is the major shipping seaport and the most beautiful city along the Polish Baltic coast. It has everything a city of this scale needs: a fascinating history, great architecture and a friendly atmosphere!
Also known as Danzig due to its complex past with periods of Polish, German and self-rule, the city is part of the Tricity urban area together with the port city of Gdynia and the popular spa town, Sopot. While in Gdańsk, make sure you visit the 15th-century St Mary’s Church, the largest brick church in Europe, and you make a wish at the Neptune Fountain, the city’s patron. While in town, try the legendary local Goldwasser liqueur with 22 karat gold flakes!

A fairytale city! We moved on foot but also by trams. Tickets can be purchased from the kiosks located in the passing tunnels. The center is superb, you can visit King Arthur's Court, St. Mary's Basilica, the Amber Museum, the Golden Gate. It was quite cold in April, I recommend thicker clothes for Poland regardless of the season and good shoes because there is cubic stone everywhere. There are many souvenir shops, restaurants, bridges over the water, the port...etc The food is good and a bit expensive compared to Romania. On the next visit I would stay longer, there are many places to visit. I also recommend the resort of Sopot, a maximum of 30 minutes by train for the beach and the Baltic Sea.DalinaRomania - 10Scored 10

Gdansk is a small beautiful city. Affordable flight, accommodation and food. The old town was nice, we stayed there to have a river view which was amazing. The promenade by the river has various restaurants to choose from. There was also a food court nearby and it was cheap and big food portions for its price. Mall is also close by and everything is just walking distance.

Perfect new destination for a three day city break. Although at time of our visit there was a lot of construction work ongoing, this didn't stop us from seeing all the sights and attractions - and there are plenty of them. The World War II museum is especially worth a visit, as is the European Solidarity Centre, not to mention the beautiful buildings and views you will see simply strolling around the super clean streets. The Museum of the Second World War has superb exposition. Well prepared and thought out. Definitely recommend. Breathtaking. About 3 hours minimum. And for technical enthusiast, there is museum ship - retired freighter Sołdek, exposition of National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk.
