The sights on the hills have very narrow roads and since it was a long weekend, there were traffic jams everywhere.. wish this could be managed better on the hills, as once we are stuck, we are stuck for hours.. The jeep ride to the Jhari waterfalls was quite rough and avoid if you have sr citizens with you.. the waterfalls in itself was very underwhelming and full of people trying to bathe in it, spoiling the ambience of the place..we stayed there for less than 5 mins..Pingali - 10Scored 10

Tried food at places like Town Canteen, Davanagere Benne Dosa, Donne biryani house and Mughal Darbar. Start early in the day so that you can cover most of the places. Mullayanagiri peak is a great one for the view, but if someone has trouble climbing up the steps to reach the peak, can go to Z point trek near Kemmangudi. It is a short walk on a pathway at Z point trek, and offers equally spectacular views even from the car parking area. Z point is definitely worth a visit! Jhari waterfalls can be avoided if one does not have enough time. We had a superb family lunch at Trivik Resort with beautiful mountain views, but rates are on a higher side, so pls check before deciding to go there. 'World of Coffee' in Chikmagalur town offers good variety of coffee and titbits with great taste. Halebeedu temple near Chikmagalur is worth a visit, best conserved ancient temple with superb stone carvings.

The roads to Chikkamagaluru from Bengaluru are superb. The traffic in the town is as good/bad as in any other city in India. Driving in it is like playing a video game. Parking is a problem, but with patience one does get a spot. Visited only the Belavadi Shri Veeranarayana Swami Temple. Not too far and worth while. Beautiful architecture and on March 23rd the sun shines on to the saligram deity of Lord Vishnu on the west side. Tried Kavikalmatta View point. The last few kilometres are one car width road and the last half mile is terrible. It is not black-topped and slushy. Did not venture. Turned around with difficulty and drove back to town.PremUnited States - 10Scored 10

Chikmagalur is nothing short of the heavenly experience that Darjeeling and Shillong offers us. The green valleys and mountains, the pure clouds, and the interesting winding roads. It's a pity that plastic waste crowds the hills too, and they aren't removed or cleaned by the governing bodies.
