- It’s a 10 minute drive - bus, taxi, collectivo to Chichen Itza. There is a bus (company Oriente) every hour but it didn’t pass whilst I waited.
- The restaurant was open until 21:00 & whilst the food was average I’d been travelling all day & arrived late so was very grateful they were still serving.
- Room has AC & is a decent size.
- Pool on site which I didn’t have time to use & a Cenote is opposite which opens at 09:00

The hotel is very close to Chichen-Itza - just 5 minutes drive from there.
The design of the hotel is really great - you kind of get into a hacienda-style building - pretty large (probably the largest compared to other hotels I saw nearby).
There is a pretty large pool inside the hotel.
The rooms are perfect to spend a night before visiting Chichen-Itza.
There is a restaurant in the hotel with quite an vast menu, including food for kids and national cuisine, so we did not need to go anywhere after a 2.5 hour drive from Cancun.
So, a very good choice if you are visiting Chichen-Itza and would like to get into a truly archeological vibe of those lands.
As a recommendation (not a dislike but rather an advise) - if you include the restaurant menu in here and into your website, I think that might persuade more people to choose your hotel.
And you are worth it because our dinner at your hotel's restaurant was really great!

The best place to stay near the Chichen Itza pyramids. Clean and charming. The small pool is very welcomed!

La Casa de las Lunas is conveniently close to Chichen Itza. It is a comfortable and welcoming place. The room was clean and provided all the essentials for a pleasant night's rest. The air conditioning was particularly appreciated given the hot climate. The serene garden (parrots included!) and small pool area were perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.
One of the best things about this hotel is its location – being so close to Chichen Itza means you can easily visit the site early in the morning before the crowds arrive.
Although, we personally recommend visiting Chichen Itza a couple of hours before closing time. It's way better then, as the hordes of buses are leaving and the touts and souvenir sellers are busy packing up instead of harassing the tourists. Start by visiting the sites that close early, then enjoy the main complex with almost no one around.
The staff were friendly and helpful. A very basic breakfast (coffee and a piece of cake) was available.
Situated on the main street of the charming village of Pisté, this renovated colonial-style hotel is less than 1.5 km from the famous Chichen Itza ruins.

The Breakfast was excellent and the staff at breakfast were very accommodating to our 3 year old daughter who was not having a good morning

Get there early and head to the Osuary complex so you can have it all to yourself. Most people go the other way. The night show was cool, but not required, the daytime is a requirement for every explorer!

Stay in Valladolid and drive-- or better yet stay in Piste- and walk to the ruins and get there when they open at 8am. On the Sunday morning we arrived at 830am, there were less than 25 people that we could see-- total-- and no vendors yet. Our photos of the main pyramids have literally zero other people in the background, and we saw lots of colorful birds and enjoyed the empty grounds.
By the time we left at 11:30am, there were 3 or 4 thousand people there, mostly arriving on tour buses from Cancun, and the vendors were aggressive and noisy and it was less appealing of a destination. YES get there as early as possible.

Always impressive to visit but too crowded and touristy the last couple of times. The parking lot was only available for tour vans and buses so struggled outside to find a parking spot. Had to walk 600 meters to get to the ticket booth. Next time I'd go as early as they open to avoid crowds, heat and parking issues.

Chichen Itza is amazing!
Chichen Itza is amazing! Well worth suffering the heat and bugsI (even in February)
There are lots of vendors selling their wares. I've read that they are not usually handmade, which would explain why so many things were only ONE Dollar! Heard someone say not to buy wooden masks etc as they would not pass customs.
Bring: hat, bug spray, sunblock, water.
C.I. is very isolated. There are tour buses that take you from Cancun to CI.
It's a full day and usually about $120 dollars. Be careful not to confuse dollars and mexican pesos. At this time the peso is about 20 cents so 100 pesos is $5 dollars. I recommend bringing a debit card and some mexican $. ( Can be purchased beforehand at AAA)
Wear sturdy closed toe shoes as it is very dusty and rocky. No stairs, however. If you take a tour, they will feed you lunch about 2 pm. Bring snacks if you are accustomed to eating lunch earlier.
Be on top of your email and messages as the tour originally said they would pick me up at my hotel, but changed to another hotel the day prior to the tour.
If you don't take a tour, I would rent a car. Bus and taxi connections aren't the best. I took a taxi from Mayalands hotel to Valladodid for about $35. Then I took a bus to Cancun central bus station, then a taxi to the airport. I spent about $75 and it took the better part of the day.
Taxi's from Mayalands to the airport run about $200 US.
BTW, the tour takes you to a cenote where you can swim. Bring your suit and a towel, plus water shoes. The trek at ILKIL was about 100 stairs and slippery.
One last thing, as of February 2022, one must wear a mask in Mexico ALL THE TIME.

It’s definitely worth it booking a tour guide as there’s so many details that need to be pointed out in order to appreciate the experience. Though most guides seemed to be asking for 900 pesos, which felt too steep. So we were actually very lucky to find a guide called Miguel who goes around in a little car (as he’s disabled), who charged us 500 pesos and gave us an amazing tour.
Also, you’ll find there’s LOTS of art & souvenirs for sale, and they’ll quote you double the price if you can’t speak Spanish… so I’d suggest waiting until the end and buying whatever you like after you’ve seen all the stalls and haggle!

This ancient Mayan ruin is well preserved and maintained.
This ancient Mayan ruin is well preserved and maintained. Kukulcan is amazing but you cannot access or climb it. Doing this ruin with a guide was essential as the experience would have been much less without the knowledge a guide has.
This is a lovely hotel very convenient for visiting Chichén Itza. Exceptionally clean. Huge room with a coffee machine with a free coffee bag each day which was a nice touch. Lovely pool for cooling off. Beautiful gardens. Very good breakfast - fruit and juice, lots of bread and cookies plus a choice of cooked. Plenty of coffee. They made a fuss off my wife on her birthday with a birthday cake at breakfast, all of the waiters getting involved singing to her. We also ate at the restaurant. Good food and wine.
Good value for money at this basic accommodation which felt luxurious due to materials used in building construction. Clean with bug screens on windows, AC in the room. This property is less than 5 minutes (driving) away from the entrance to Chichen Itzá, making it an ideal base to explore the park from. The Casa de Las Lunas has parking available onsite secured behind a gate.
If you stay here, pop up the street to Las Mestizas restaurant and order the Sopa de Limón. You won’t regret it!
The location was ideal: close to Chichen Itza and the cenote Ik kil was literally on the other side of the rode. You can simply put on your swimming suite and walk over there. Thanks to the location we could begin our visit to Chichen Itza early and in the afternoon we went swimming in the cenote.
We also liked the "natural pool". The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant where youcan eat or you can take the collectivo to the nearby village where you have more choice.
Very impressive Hacienda building with comfortable porch for relaxing and pleasant pool/common areas. The bedrooms are set around the garden or pool and very spacious. Good bathrooms too. The breakfast was good although perhaps a bit expensive. We ate dinner here one night and it was a nice experience even if the food wasn't outstanding I'd recommend it for the atmosphere and service. Good cocktails too! Pool area nice. Very well located for Chichen Itza (5min drive)
Mayalnd’s location adjacent to the Chichen Itza ruins cannot be beat. The grounds are lush and meticulously groomed, and the swimming pools are refreshing. We loved our thatched bungalow.
Hotel reception arranged a private tour guide for our visit to the ruins, Jaime Humberto, and he made our visit there a dream. The film on Mayan astronomy in Mayaland’s theater is worth the roughly $10/person cost of admission as a preparation for visiting the ruins.
Huge room, nice pool. Friendly supportive staff. Dream-location near the temples, with the sounds of the jungle.
Restaurant appeared to be very good and we returned there even. We don't do that normally. Also, during the day
you can have lovely snacks/drinks at the pool which is great when you come back after some hours at Chichen Itza, which
is really nearby and you can be there, long before the crowds come. We loved it !
- Beautiful hotel. Pretty rooms and beautiful garden and swimming pool (which opens very early, very nice to do some workout before starting the day!).
- Quiet.
- Super close to Chichen Itza! Perfect if you want to arrive for the opening (which is highly recommended if you want to avoid the crowd and too high temperatures).
- Very nice staff.
- Delicious breakfast.
The property has its own wild style, very authentic and with jungle atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and fouthcoming. Place has good location to reach Chichen Itza. And has no nearby neighbours - might be good for events (has enough open space for it).
This is a gorgeous, stylish hotel with a lot of history. The view from our room was incredible. Everything was clean and tidy and the food was excellent. The Chichen Itza tour guide organised by the hotel was knowledgeable, professional and friendly.
The landscape and grounds are fabulous! Tranquil and peaceful picture-perfect place. The location is beautiful and close to Chichen Itza. Outside of the resort looks like the best Mexico has to offer.
Vanessa and Joel were fantastic. Short stoll into Piste. The room was perfect and the pool area was perfect for chill out time after morning at Chichen Itza. Superb and thank you!!!
the property was very clean and welcoming.
the bungalow is very nice and the surrounding is exceptional. only 5mn car ride from
chichen itza and Ik Kil cenote.
