We arrived at night and sat out amongst the stars, to wake up to the most amazing views of fields, sheep and little else. A gorgeous property that exudes history, yet has all the amenities.

The town is worth a look around, particularly if you are interested in Australian history. A walk down Sheridan St is well worthwhile.
Poets Corner Motel is good as an overnighter or perhaps a couple of nights although the current owners have not opened the restaurant.
There are other options, including the Criterion Hotel.
Petrol was cheaper by 10c per litre than most other sites I saw in NSW.

Also it is in a great location, being close to supermarket and restaurants.

Very disappointing.
Very disappointing. Got to town at 3pm on a Friday afternoon and the entire town was shut and nothing to be found except a rather dark pub with awful coffee. Absolutely nothing to do. The one great thing was the restaurant the Little Blue Ducks at Tumut which was exceptional. I would stay there rather than Gundagai.

It was clean and basic.
It was clean and basic. Parking is directly in front of the room and it’s all on the ground floor . I had a room for a stopover driving between Sydney and Melbourne and the return journey. I paid the same price for the night but the 2nd stopover the room only had a kettle ( no microwave like the first) and was situated near the laundry so I could hear the washing machines for several hours that night -

This small town is charming.
This small town is charming. Located among hills with wonderful views from the upper area.interesting architecture well documented on a historic walk guide
Helpful information provided at several key sites about buildings, events or customs eg the gathering round the local group of First Nation peoples Easy walking in the main street, a car to tour the town for grand old houses.
highlights are the restored railway station and the museum which covers a lot of ground
We self catered from an excellent Woolworths, coffee and buns from the main street

Gundagai is an old historic town that we visited for 2 days.
Gundagai is an old historic town that we visited for 2 days. We explored the old gaol which was a self guided tour with audio headphones that you paid and picked up from the information centre. It was very interesting. We also visited the pen museum which showed all the old pens over the years and the gentleman there told us about how he came to get volume 1 of The Age it's the only one in existence it had nearly been thrown out to the tip. Be warned he does like to talk but was worth the visit.
Lovely peaceful location a short walk to the main street pubs and cafes. Very clean with all essential provisions with parking near the door. It was great having a coffee pod machine provided with a coffee pod each for the morning. There appeared to be good soundproofing between the rooms. The grounds were lovely and green and well maintained.
The location was excellent being close to food options and the little township
The room was clean and tidy and comfortable
We were notified in advance of arriving how we could access the room, given we were arriving on a public holiday after hours so while we did not meet the hosts they facilitated easy access to the room
Location in south Gundagai is a short drive from the main town centre. Old, retro motel with comfortable room, The room had everything needed for a short stay including fridge, microwave, and good TV. Pleased that the windows opened wide to get the fresh air. Wish there had been time to swim in the above ground pool!
What a great place for a halfway stop between Melbourne and Sydney. Michelle was great, super friendly and very helpful. Accomodation was clean, roomy and a comfy bed which every long distance driver needs. Would highly recommend The Tuckerbox Motor Inn for your next stopover in Gundagai.
It’s rare that you can stay in such a lovely Motel. And for see that photos clearly represent the space.
The pics were accurate and the room absolutely lovely.
Very clean and comfortable.
I would recommend anyone I know looking to stay in Gundagai - the Gundagai Motel. Fabulous.
We like this hotel / tourist park, and this was the first time we tried the cabins rather than the suites. They were good value and comfortable, and we'd recommend them, but we much prefer the suites. It's only a 5 minute walk to go to the town's cafes and pubs for a meal.
The location was great and the facilities beautiful. One of the best boutique hotels we have stayed in. Was the best accomodation after 10 nights away in Melbourne and topped off our vacation on our return trip home. Great local wines in the room at an affordable price.
Very well kept and very spacious for a motel. Comfy beds, central position close to the town centre and away enough from the highway so you don’t hear any noise. Well equipped room. Friendly staff. Highly recommended if you stop in the beautiful Gundagai
The complex was quiet and very close to town as in a few minutes walk. There was a major supermarket literally next door. I appreciated the outdoor furniture to just sit and relax after a long drive, Gundagai is a nice town.
Sweet little pub with a great outdoor setting - excellent parma! The accommodation was basic, but everything that you need for a night or two. Comfortable, quiet, good heating in the room
Great old hotel with renovated accomodation.
Clean, warm very comfortable with everything required.
Bistro was also fantastic with delicious meals and so well priced😃
The rooms are beautifully appointed and very good value for the price. You wake up to beautiful views of the Gundagai hills. Staff are very communicative and friendly.
Lovely big room and very comfortable.
Great location and appearance from the outside, gardens and grounds kept really nice.
Would highly recommend this hotel.
