Our journey through the safari was nothing short of fantastic, beginning with a thrilling encounter with a sleeping lion en route to the lodge. The adventure continued with more lion sightings as we departed. Our guide, Christelle, was the highlight of our trip. Her extensive knowledge and evident passion for wildlife truly enriched our safari, transforming it into a magical adventure. We experienced great extra drives, pursuing the echoes of roaring lions and observing the serene beauty of a lounging leopard. Fortune smiled upon us, allowing us to witness four different leopards, including a surprise visit from one during our sundowner drinks – a moment of sheer amazement especially for Christelle!!.
The warmth and hospitality of Dave and Nikki made us feel like a part of the Nyala family. Their exceptional attention to detail in the dining experience, complemented by Shylet's service, elevated our stay.
Our heartfelt thanks to the Nyala family for crafting such an unforgettable and unique safari experience.

Hoedspruit is the best town in Greater Kruger.
Hoedspruit is the best town in Greater Kruger. Reasonably priced direct flights from Capetown or Johannesburg. Rental cars at airport. Grocery stores, restaurants and a variety of great places to stay.
This is where to start and stock up if you are self driving Kruger. 45 minutes to the Orpen gate and another 45 to Letaba rest camp. Expect to see elephant on the way.

A waring to be patient of the access roads, if driving in. Tri-axle bulk transporters seem to use every conceivable road, many of which are hilly and not endowed with many safe and legal overtaking opportunities.

The staff are very welcoming and they gave us the best service. The breakfast was to die for. If you want to unwind and let nature speak to you, don't hesitate, book your stay now. I love the privacy and the smell of different trees that sorrounds the Lodge. It was a good experience.

Unpretentious and community driven.
Unpretentious and community driven. All people united with a common cause for good. Hoedspruit is diverse subtle and unassuming - one of Africa’s best kept secrets and one well worth preserving 👍 Who would have thought?
When We booked We thought it was a tent, but the room was on an open air deck (which would be an incredible experience during summer) but not bearable for that night because it was windy and cold the day We arrived.
The staff kindly upgrated us to the royal suite, which was AMAZING!
The food and the service were excellent.
It’s really peaceful and perfect to relax after a safari.
Be aware that the hotel is 20 min from the main road.
Thank you to Michael, Njabulo and Fanny for their warm welcoming.
Njabulo makes the Best cocktails!
The hosts and their staff are very welcoming and take care of all your needs as guests. The rooms are very well finished with all you need for a comfortable self catering experience. We enjoyed the very intimate layout, there is a lot of privacy as each room opens up to the bush and isn't up close to the others. The breakfast is a highlight - everything freshly prepared with generous portions and enough variety to suit all tastes. We'll definitely visit again
Location was great and facilites were amazing for a property in the bush. The property is situated in a conservation zone where animals roam freely. Definitely a 5 star. When i read the ratings regarding this property, i was a bit skeptical; however, much to my surprise, i was amazed with the full package, great room, great view of the bush, great animal sighting right outside our room, excellent breakfast and last but not least, great hosts.
As a self catering facility, everything we could need was provided. The linen and towels were incredibly soft and of a high standard. The views were stunning and the whole facility is in an incredibly central location to the main attractions of the area.
They manufacture their soaps etc. on site and use locally sourced ingredients, and this is just one of the brilliant added extras on site!
The place is secure, welcoming, our option was self catering and we had access to anything we needed for self catering stay, the quietness of the area, being surrounded by beautifu nature, fireplace, pool area, the kids also liked their room, perfect wi fi conection, very clean, nice shower and bathtub, we really enjoyed, very nice place for a family to enjoy stay in Hoedspruit.
The property is kitted out exceptionally well for self catering; quality utensils, bed linen and towels are provided. The little watering hole in the garden provides a wonderful opportunity to spot wildlife coming for a drink…. wi-fi worked very well AND it works during electricity load shedding; certain sockets work during load shedding too, making for a very comfortable stay!
This was my second stay at Ukuthula and could not have been happier with everything once again! Fabian communicated with me immediately upon making my booking and ensured a smooth and easy check in. The staff is wonderful, the food fantastic, and one of the top options for accommodation in Hoedspruit!
The quietness and the serenity of the bushveld. We enjoy the pool on a hot summer day. The unit was fitted with all the utensils to self catering . We had 4 fans which was very handy. The bedrooms windows are fitted with mosquito net . Everything was exactly as advertised in the website.
The Bush house is a lovely secluded spot. The wild animals came to visit us. Perfect for a family of 4. Very well located in Hoedspruit. There are also many activities in the area to explore. The host was friendly, efficient and communicates very well.
Breakfast was a normal hotel/lodge breakfast except the servicing of it is done in a very special way to feel that you are home and very welcomed to enjoy.
However, the reception and entire staff is beyond imagination on their hospitality.
Breakfast was ok - the hotel is remote so there’s nowhere else to eat close by before going out sightseeing. Having dinner prepared was very convenient for us. The best thing about the hotel is Jacques, the manager!
The breakfast was superb, made upon order of your choice... The host is very hands on and friendly... Made my stay in Hoedspruit very enjoyable, as he also helped with activities during the stay without a hassle...
I liked the fact that the place feels like home since it’s self catering and has all the resources one will need, very close to the shops, it is very clean and I also love that the TV has Netflix.
A great place to relax, explore the surroundings and enjoy the tranquility. Close enough to explore town easily. Host was very helpful with recommendations for nearby attractions and restaurants.

The lodge is situated in a wildlife estate. Peaceful and tranquil. Beautiful clean rooms which are well maintained. Heated pool with beautiful views of the bushes and animals.
I liked everything and that it had everything required as a self catering unit.
